Praying God’s Will

If you are looking for a summary of many of the things we have learned over the past months concerning Paul's prayer life.  Here is a handout that may serve you well.  I have been praying for 1 item a day for our church community and for my family.  May God's peace be with you.

Hallowed Name, Advance of Kingdom, Do your will	““This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” (Matthew 6:9–10 NIV)
Spread of the Gospel	“And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” (Matthew 24:14 NIV)
God builds the church	“And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.” (Matthew 16:18 NIV)
	“With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith. We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.” (2 Thessalonians 1:11–12 NIV)
Spirit to guide us into truth	“But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. Make us holy	“To the church of God in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be holy, together with all those everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ — their Lord and ours:” (1 Corinthians 1:2 NIV)
Keep us strong and blameless	“He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 1:8 NIV)
Allow Christ to be revealed to nations	“Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed.” (1 Corinthians 1:7 NIV)
Comfort us in trouble	“who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.” (2 Corinthians 1:4 NIV)
We not do anything wrong	“Now we pray to God that you will not do anything wrong. Not that people will see that we have stood the test but that you will do what is right even though we may seem to have failed.” (2 Corinthians 13:7 NIV)
Make us perfect (restored) to God	“We are glad whenever we are weak but you are strong; and our prayer is for your perfection.” (2 Corinthians 13:9 NIV)
Bring all things under Christ	“to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment — to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church,” (Ephesians 1:10, 22 NIV)
Give us the spirit of wisdom and revelation in order to know God better	“I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.” (Ephesians 1:17 NIV)
Open our eyes to know the hope we have in Christ	“I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. Christ will dwell in our hearts more each day	“so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love,” (Ephesians 3:17 NIV)
Rooted and established in love	“may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ,” (Ephesians 3:18 NIV)
Words to speak the gospel boldly and fearlessly	“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Complete work you began in us	“being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:6 NIV)
Discern what is best We are blameless and filled with Righteousness	“And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ — to the glory and praise of God.” (Philippians 1:9–11 NIV)
Shine like the stars as we hold out the gospel	“so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life — in order that I may boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor for nothing.” (Philippians 2:15–16 NIV)
